What's your priority?
Internet. Education. Friends. A relationship. A job. What exactly is your priority? Are you pushing the most important thing in your life aside for...other things? Well, if you're a Christian, your number one priority should be Jesus Christ. As a Christian, the priority can sometimes get pushed off. Sure, you're busy. Sure, a lot of the other things we fill our time with are important but, the real question is this- "How do we make time for Jesus?" Sure, mealtime prayers and studying a bible curriculum (to some of you who homeschool or go to a Christian school) are every day practices. But, how can you get more? Well, one way to grow closer to God (and it's not always easy) is to push other things aside. I know balancing school, chores, work and other commitments can be tough. And most of the time, you can't push those things aside or tweak them to make time for extra bible reading. But what about the other stuff? That book series you're working on that you just can't put down, that show on Netflix keeping you at the edge of your seat, the TV show you just 'can't' miss or even the hours you spend on the internet. Those things you can change. Yes, it's easier said than done. But it's possible. Cut your screen time in half and Study God's word. Wake up half an hour before anybody else does and memorize scripture. Put the book aside for awhile and study a devotion. Change your general music playlist and maybe add in some Christian songs. Make sure God isn't just a side thing added to your checklist. Make His time more meaningful. Love Him with your everything. After all...that's what we're made for. You'll find it rewarding and you'll see yourself growing spiritually as well. It's not an option to put God aside for other things. Nothing will ever be as important as God. Ever. Think about it. Jesus died for you on the cross. He gave His very life for you. So, the least you could do is give him part of your day. It doesn't even have to be a certain time. Just be reverent and prioritize God first. You'll find it more rewarding than any other thing you do in your day. ~KJ
